RESEARCH INTERESTS
Dr George leads a translational research program that advances how dietary and lifestyle interventions are designed, implemented, and scaled to improve outcomes in metabolic fatty liver disease (MASLD) and related chronic conditions. Her work is defined by a strong focus on real‑world impact, combining methodological expertise in clinical trials, nutrition epidemiology, and co‑design with deep, long‑standing partnerships across healthcare services to ensure research is embedded within practice.
She has made a field‑defining contribution through the MEDINA trial, the only multisite Australian study of the Mediterranean diet in MASLD, which demonstrated that culturally adapted dietary models can be both clinically effective and acceptable in multiethnic populations. This work established a new paradigm for translating dietary evidence into diverse real‑world settings and has informed international practice.
Building on this foundation, Dr George now leads LiverERAS, an innovative, co‑designed digital intervention integrating diet, physical activity, and sleep. Delivered in partnership with healthcare services, LiverERAS represents a scalable, cost‑effective model of care designed to address the rapidly growing burden of MASLD, particularly in the context of workforce constraints.
This program reflects her broader contribution to the field: developing pragmatic, multi‑modal interventions that extend the reach of evidence‑based nutrition beyond traditional models of care.
Across her program, Dr George’s research consistently bridges discovery and implementation, shaping clinical practice through accessible, culturally responsive, and system‑ready solutions.

- The provision of dietary interventions and multi-modal lifestyle interventions within diverse clinical cohorts prevalent in countries such as Australia.
