RESEARCH INTERESTS

A/Prof Mary Iliadis researches in the areas of domestic, family and sexual violence, with specific expertise in:

Legal system responses to victim-survivors
* Legal protections of victim-survivors' private information in court proceedings (counselling/medical records, prior sexual experiences, digital communications).
* Victim participation rights in criminal legal systems, including through independent legal representation.
* Victim-survivors' experiences of the legal process.

Gendered violence and technology:
* Police body-worn camera technologies in family violence incidents.
* Technology-facilitated domestic violence.
* Technology as a safety mechanism for victim-survivors, including through CCTV systems.

 

A/Prof Mary Iliadis also has expertise in the help-seeking experiences of victim-survivors of domestic, family and sexual violence, including through support service providers. Her research is violence- and trauma-informed, and adopts culturally safe and responsive principles.
