BIO
Dr Jianhua (Jack) Li is an award-winning academic at Deakin University and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), with a growing national profile in cybersecurity and computing education. His work sits at the intersection of technology, education, and society, with a focus on improving cyber safety behaviours, strengthening industry-linked learning, and integrating Indigenous perspectives into ICT.
Jack has played a leading role in advancing the indigenisation of computing curricula at Deakin. He has established partnerships with Indigenous-led organisations and contributed to cross-institutional initiatives that are informing teaching practice beyond individual units. His research and teaching are closely connected, resulting in both scholarly publications and practical curriculum innovations that support educators and students.
He is a recipient of the 2026 Australian CORE Teaching Award (Early Career) and the 2025 Deakin Vice-Chancellor’s Education and Employability Award, recognising the impact of his work in inclusive and research-informed teaching. The CORE awards are widely regarded as among the most prestigious national honours in computing education and research.
Jack also contributes to the academic community through mentoring early-career academics and supervising higher degree research students, supporting their progression into academic and professional careers.
Through his research, teaching, and engagement, Jack is building a distinctive interdisciplinary profile with increasing national recognition and growing international visibility.
