BIO
Dr Ibrahim Hossain is an applied AI, machine learning, and data science researcher with experience in intelligent systems, autonomous vehicles, robotics, deep learning, and brain-computer interfaces. His work focuses on practical AI research, computational data modelling, computer vision, trustworthy AI, transfer learning, and real-time decision-support systems.
He is a Research Fellow in computational data modelling and analytics, where he contributes to applied AI projects involving autonomous systems, sensor-based intelligence, and machine learning for complex real-world problems. His research includes autonomous convoying, uncertainty-aware deep learning, active learning, transfer learning, and motor imagery-based brain-computer interface systems.
Dr Hossain delivered major Autonomous Leader-Follower Convoy project supported by the Australian Defence Force. This project, valued at approximately AUD 7 million, combined AI research with practical deployment to address defence logistics challenges.
He is currently working on an onboard AI satellite project with SmartSat CRC, in collaboration with Swinburne University, the University of Adelaide, the University of South Australia, and industry partners including BAE Systems, SAAB, and Airbus. In this project, he develops onboard and in-orbit AI processing methods for Synthetic Aperture Radar image analysis.
