TEACHING EXPERTISE
Dr Xin Hu uses a student-centred learning pedagogy. As a Unit Chair, he has substantial experience leading the successful delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate units, both on campus and online. In particular, he has successfully led the teaching of large postgraduate units and first-year undergraduate units with high student satisfaction. He teaches in the core areas of construction management, including construction procurement, tendering, contract administration, construction finance and economics, project evaluation, feasibility studies, and construction project management.
Dr Xin Hu has considerable experience in learning design, including developing inclusive learning environments, selecting appropriate teaching methods and technologies, designing authentic assessments, and renewing and designing learning materials that reflect the requirements of industry, higher education, and accreditation bodies. He also leads teaching teams, continuously supporting the professional growth of sessional academics by sharing best teaching practices and providing constructive teaching guidance. He also contributes to the preparation of documentation for course accreditation (e.g., for the Australian Institute of Building in 2023).
Dr Xin Hu has extensive experience supervising student research projects (e.g., in SRR721 and SRR402). He is a registered principal supervisor at Deakin University. He has contributed to two PhD completions as an associate supervisor and co-supervisor (2024, 2025). He provides high-quality supervision that supports candidates’ research development and contributes to the development of a collaborative HDR supervision environment.
