TEACHING EXPERTISE

Scott Field is an outstanding communicator and educator in tertiary education.  He builds on a foundation of student engagement and support, challenges young people to think creatively, and instils in them the confidence to take on new challenges.

With an extensive background in education and training in business and formal educational settings, Scott leads Deakin’s programs in Sports Event and Facility Management, the Australian Sport Systems, and Sport Management Work Integrated Learning programs.  He has grown these programs to be more inclusive, more strongly linked to industry, and created a more practical approach to student learning.  Scott acts as Unit Chair for five units across the undergraduate and post-graduate programs.

Scott’s work within the academic programs has been recognised each year with outstanding student feedback through Deakin University’s student feedback program.  His students have rated his classes as some of the highest recorded across the Deakin Business School, and have attributed his teaching as critical to enhancing their employability.  These results have been recognised by Scott receiving the Deakin University Vice-Chancellor's Award for Teaching Excellence.

Some of Scott’s proudest achievements have come through feedback from Deakin’s graduates and alumni who maintain close contact with him after Graduation.  Many former students volunteer to return to deliver into his classes, represent their organisations at the Deakin Sport Career Expo, or support current students through the networks he has established.
