BIO

Mark Drehlich has established himself as a leader in growing sport and recreation participation over two decades in the Australian sport industry. His expertise lies in expanding opportunities and improving accessibility in sport and recreation. With a career spanning national, state, and local sport organisations, as well as roles in government and consultancy, Mark has developed a comprehensive understanding of the sport ecosystem.

 

Transitioning into academia, Mark brings his industry experience to the classroom. As an educator and mentor, he shapes the next generation of sport managers, equipping them with theoretical knowledge and practical insights to achieve strong industry outcomes.

 

Mark's research focuses on innovation in sport development, exploring strategies to attract and engage participants. This work bridges the gap between academic research and industry practice, aiming to better understand how to implement innovation and drive change in the sport sector.

Currently completing his PhD, Mark is investigating innovative approaches to address declining sport participation. This research contributes to academic discourse while offering practical solutions to a critical industry challenge.

 

Mark's blend of industry experience and academic rigour positions him at the forefront of sport management education and research. Through his teaching and research, he fosters innovation, inclusion, and growth in the sport and recreation sector.
