TEACHING EXPERTISE
While my teaching focus revolves around sport management, specifically sport development and innovation. My teaching is rooted in empowering students to take ownership of their education in sport and recreation management. I create an environment that fosters autonomy, critical thinking, and active engagement, preparing students for careers as high-performing managers and lifelong learners.
Central to my approach is 'authentic exploration,' where students are active participants in a collaborative learning community. I recognize each student's unique experiences and skills, encouraging the sharing of diverse perspectives. This deepens understanding of the multifaceted nature of the sport and recreation industry.
My teaching methods include:
- Interactive learning with real-world applications
- Case studies and industry-based projects
- Reflective practices linking concepts to real-world scenarios
- Diverse learning opportunities catering to different learning styles
- Collaborative projects developing soft skills and leveraging diverse backgrounds
I embrace the 'FAIL' principle (First Attempt In Learning), fostering resilience and a growth mindset essential for success in the evolving sport sector. As a facilitator, I create an inclusive environment where students feel empowered to contribute unique insights, challenge assumptions, and develop evidence-based solutions.
This approach prepares students to navigate complex industry challenges with confidence, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning.
