RESEARCH INTERESTS

My research is multifaceted, exploring health systems and services, especially the access to and use of services by people with communication needs, and how these services support people to participate more. I am also interested in how students, especially speech pathology students, learn and develop their clinical skills and capacities through both teaching and learning in the classroom, and on practice education placements. I'd like to know what supports students to become the best graduates, ready to practice and work collaboratively and effectively with people with communication needs and/or swallowing and mealtime support needs. I am an experienced qualitative researcher who is open to mixed methods and quantative research depending on the question and need. I have expertise and a strong interest using methods that include collaboration and co-design. I think we should be asking more questions to people with a disability than about people with a disability- lived experience is expertise.
