RESEARCH INTERESTS
Dr Anna Urbanowicz is an internationally recognised disability researcher whose work has influenced disability, health, and healthcare policy and practice in Australia and internationally. Her research focuses on improving the experiences, health, wellbeing, and participation of people with disability through participatory, co-produced, and translational research that is relevant to real-world settings. Anna has particular expertise in partnering with people with disability, families, clinicians, and service providers to address priorities identified by the disability community. Her work spans a range of populations, including children and young people with cerebral palsy, people with intellectual disability, and autistic adolescents and adults. She has authored 28 peer-reviewed publications and has an h-index of 20. Research she co-authored on healthcare barriers experienced by autistic adults informed the Australian Government's National Roadmap to Improve the Health and Mental Health of Autistic People 2025-2035 and guidance developed by NHS England to improve autism assessment pathways, demonstrating the translation of her research into policy and practice at both national and international levels.
