BIO

I am a lecturer in graduate researcher development in the Researcher Development Academy. I collaborate to create environments and initiatives that enable graduate researchers to thrive and flourish as researchers and human beings. My role focuses on the end stage of graduate researcher candidature and transitioning out. I lead the conversation on graduate researcher careers in collaboration with the Director, Graduate Employability,  and the DeakinTALENT careers services team. Our marquee event is Graduate Researchers' Careers Month, offered annually. I also co-ordinate and co-facilitate the "Driving your thesis to a successful completion" program.

I have held researcher developer roles for 15 years working directly with graduate researchers and early career researchers. I draw on extensive expertise with over 25 years at seven Australian universities specialising in researcher/academic development and strategic initiatives. My background involves inter-disciplinary work with researchers across STEM and HASS disciplines.

I completed my PhD at Monash University in 2024, where I explored interconnections between the act of writing and mindfulness practice with a focus on the emotional experiences of writing. I have also co-authored with colleagues in STEM, particularly at the former Engineering Practice Academy (Swinburne University) and the Faculty of Medicine Bio-Medical Multimedia Unit (The University of Melbourne). For more details of my research, please see the research tab.
