TEACHING EXPERTISE
Teaching has been a constant part of Golja’s practice and another place where his research is tested. For him, if a proposition cannot be made clear to a student, the proposition itself may need further thought.
At Deakin University, he teaches across the photography major, including:
• ACI102 Digital Photography
• ACI202 Advanced Digital Studio
• ACI203 Darkroom Practices
He has also held a long and substantial role at a specialist tertiary college, where his work extended well beyond the classroom:
• Extensive teaching across photography, moving image, montage, design history, visual culture and critical thinking.
• Curriculum development, designing and renewing units and course structures to align creative practice with industry and academic standards.
• Academic coordination, overseeing teaching teams, course delivery, assessment and student progression.
Across both settings, he brings students into professional exhibition structures. He approaches teaching as a reciprocal practice in which research, making, teaching and public encounter each modify the others.
