MrsLisa Henderson

Dr Lisa Henderson is an educator, researcher and academic with experience across higher education, teacher education and student transition programs. Her work is grounded in a commitment to creating learning environments in which students feel supported, connected and able to succeed.

Lisa’s academic practice brings together teaching, research and educational leadership, with a particular interest in how people navigate significant transitions and challenges within educational settings. Her doctoral research explored Australian school counsellors’ experiences of responding to critical incidents and resulted in the development of a Framework for Practice that considers the individual, relational, organisational, cultural and procedural factors that shape professional responses.

Her more recent work extends to student transition, belonging and wellbeing in higher education, particularly for students entering university through diverse and non-traditional pathways. She is interested in how curriculum, teaching practice and institutional approaches can strengthen students’ confidence, sense of belonging and capacity to succeed in higher education.
