My teaching and academic leadership focus on applied learning, initial teacher education and trauma-informed education, with a strong commitment to inclusive, relational and practice-based approaches to learning.

I have played a leading role in advancing applied learning and vocational education in Victoria. As Course Director of Deakin's Master of Applied Learning and Teaching (2018-2025), I led course development, curriculum renewal and accreditation, alongside major government-funded initiatives supporting teacher workforce development, professional learning and educational leadership.

My teaching and educational leadership extend internationally, including work with teachers, school leaders and education institutions in India and beyond. These collaborations have strengthened my interest in how educational practices, professional knowledge and approaches to teaching and learning are shaped by different cultural and institutional contexts.

Trauma-informed education is central to my teaching practice. I work with pre-service and practising teachers to understand the impact of trauma on learning, relationships and engagement, with a focus on creating safe, inclusive and responsive educational environments.

Drawing on my experience as a secondary school teacher, my teaching brings together research, professional practice and critical reflection to challenge assumptions about learners, educational pathways and what constitutes meaningful learning.
