TEACHING EXPERTISE

Teaching Summary – Dr Kellie McGlynn

Dr Kellie McGlynn is an award-winning educator and academic leader in Initial Teacher Education (ITE), with a sustained record of innovation, student-centred pedagogy, and curriculum reform. As Course Director of the Master of Applied Learning and Teaching (MALT) since 2018, she has guided the program through significant renewal and expansion.

Her teaching is grounded in relational pedagogy, assessment innovation, and applied learning design, ensuring alignment with both AITSL Graduate Standards and Deakin’s curriculum framework. She has led the design and accreditation of applied learning units and a suite of integrated method units across MALT and the Master of Teaching, supporting both course coherence and workforce relevance.

Kellie regularly teaches and coordinates Masters units (ETR703, EMM741, ECN734, ECN729, ECN732, ECN735), mentors students in high-stakes assessment, and has pioneered cloud-based marking systems and reflective assessment models. She also provides intensive mentoring and support to placement students through her leadership of the Teach Today initiative and Deakin’s professional practice networks.

Recognised for her ability to lead large intensive based cohorts and high-enrolling courses, Kellie contributes to school-wide initiatives in academic standards, moderation, curriculum governance, and inclusive teaching practice. Her work exemplifies a commitment to equity, employability, and innovation in teacher education.
