RESEARCH INTERESTS

Knowledge Areas
All of my research has conservation biology as a central theme, with a focus on how species use whole landscapes, particularly the role of dispersal. I take a range of approaches, including manipulative experiments, natural experiments and the application of population genetics. I place a strong emphasis on testing ecological theory using applied conservation problems.

Primary research areas include fire ecology, understanding movement of threatened species using high-throughput automated tracking, frog conservation in the face of drought and chytrid, and applications of new technology for monitoring wildlife, particularly AI-assisted camera traps for reptiles and invertebrates.

The Biodiversity Research and Conservation Ecology (BRACE) lab spans a range of conservation related research topics. Further details at dondriscoll.com.
