RESEARCH INTERESTS

Dr Tan leads a research program focusing on chronic disease prevention and healthy ageing through innovative, evidence-based nutrition strategies. His healthy longevity research vision is to develop simple, pragmatic, and effective dietary interventions that promote healthy ageing and address chronic conditions, including obesity and metabolic diseases that are national and global health priorities. Dr Tan's work integrates mechanistic research, population-based evidence synthesis, and translation and implementation through clinical trials. Current projects investigate how nutrient-dense whole foods and dietary patterns influence appetite regulation, body composition, glycemic control, muscle health, and functional capacity. Dr Tan has received 14 external research grants (totalling >$4 million), published over 80 peer-reviewed research papers, and supervised several postdocs and research students.
