RESEARCH INTERESTS

My research focuses on what affects the implementation of policy or intereventions that promote population health improvement. I develop and apply implementation, systems and artificial intelligence (AI) approaches to understand how evidence-based interventions can be implemented, adapted, and sustained in complex real-world settings. While my applied research focuses on physical activity, nutrition and chronic disease prevention, the methods I develop are transferable across disciplines and sectors.

My current research explores questions include:

  • How can implementation strategies be designed more systematically to improve adoption, sustainability and scale-up?
  • How can systems science strengthen implementation research in complex policy and practice environments?
  • How can AI improve the efficiency and quality of implementation research?
  • How can implementation approaches better promote equity and reduce disparities in health outcomes?

I welcome collaboration with researchers, governments, health services, community organisations and industry partners on:

  • Implementation and scale-up of complex interventions
  • Implementation science methodology and methods development
  • Systems science for implementation research
  • Implementation evaluation, hybrid effectiveness-implementation designs and process evaluation
  • Implementation mapping and strategy development
  • AI applications in implementation science
  • Physical activity, nutrition and chronic disease prevention
  • Capacity building in implementation science, knowledge translation and research impact
