Claire’s research program focuses on mental health, vulnerable populations and safer systems of care, with three interconnected areas of scholarship:

Youth mental health and models of care: adolescent and youth mental health, inpatient models of care, therapeutic interventions, service outcomes, and the experiences of young people, caregivers and clinicians.

Vulnerable populations and safer care: family and domestic violence, filicide risk, foster care, psychological wellbeing and help-seeking, and evaluation of services supporting people and communities experiencing vulnerability.

Mental health nursing education and workforce capability: simulation-based education, mental health and risk assessment, graduate preparedness, family and domestic violence education, occupational violence prevention, psychologically safe practice and development of the mental health nursing workforce.

Claire also has interests in health service evaluation, research translation and implementation, and the development and evaluation of initiatives that strengthen nursing and health workforce capability. Her research is supported by clinical, community, national and international collaborations.
