RESEARCH INTERESTS

My research focuses on uncovering the neurobiological basis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). I am also interested in how the human brain facilitates the understanding of others' thoughts and emotions, such as empathy, and how these brain systems develop during childhood. To explore these areas, I employ cutting-edge neuroscience techniques, including functional neuroimaging, electroencephalography, and non-invasive brain stimulation, alongside comprehensive clinical and cognitive assessments with both healthy and clinical populations.

I am dedicated to translating my research into practical biomedical therapeutics for ASD. A significant portion of my work involves pioneering clinical trials that investigate the potential of non-invasive brain stimulation techniques, such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), to improve both clinical symptoms and neurophysiological markers of ASD.

Currently, I lead a large, multisite trial of TMS for ASD, funded by the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF; for more details, please refer to the link in the sidebar). I am also involved in trials of medicinal cannabis in autism and non-invasive brain stimulation in various psychiatric and neurological disorders.
