During the last 3 years I have developed a growing capability to secure external and internal research funding grants to support ongoing research projects.

In 2025 I was the Team Leader of the ‘’Nyaal Banyul Whole Life Carbon Pathways project’’ which was successful in receiving a external  grant from the project developer/manager ( Plenary ) to explore whole life carbon pathways for future projects and includes an interdisciplinary team of specialist researchers from Construction Management and Architecture.  This is an ongoing and innovative research project based on the recently opened Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre and is focused on completing detailed assessments of the operational and embodied carbon footprints of the facility in order to develop strategies to achieve future Whole Life Carbon Net Zero targets.

During 2025 I was also the recipient of the Michael Ventris Award for Architecture which is a prestigious international accolade and is awarded annually by the Architectural Association in London to fund independent projects that make unique and original contributions to architecture.  The project that received the award is the Jigalong thermal comfort  project which I established in 2025 and is focused on researching thermal comfort in a remote First Nations community that I designed community housing for in the late 1990s in the Little Sandy Desert of Western Australia.
