RESEARCH INTERESTS
Paradoxically, inclusive education is beholden to individualistic ideology and deficit-based thinking. My work strategically challenges individual disadvantage and systemic inequity providing innovative relationally oriented and strengths-based theoretical alternatives using critical educational psychology.
Since 2023 I have led a Department of Education Victoria (DoE) funded project developing resources for school leaders in their engagement with African heritage students. At its core, this project promotes the benefits of inclusive education across cultures and communities. The resources, including a series of infographics, animated videos and a school practice assessment tool, were delivered to the DoE at the end of 2025. In May 2026, a series of training sessions were delivered to DoE staff by the project team.
From 2020 to 2022, I was a Co-Lead Investigator on a Category 3 project funded by the Catholic Education Tasmania (CET). The project involved 38 schools from across Tasmania with the objective of improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. With the project team, I travelled to Tasmania for meetings with CET and to undertake workshops with school leaders and teachers. My key responsibility for the project was to lead the design of the survey tool used in the research.
