ProfessorBodil Rasmussen

Professor Rasmussen's primary research focuses on improving the quality of care and self-management in people with diabetes and complex conditions. She has published extensively in the field with a specific focus on how individuals manage life transitions and understanding the psychological and social contexts in health care. Her research program has two arms. One program focuses on empowering people to self-manage their condition by using technology. Professor Rasmussen's program of research investigates the impact of changes during life transitions on self-management and risk management among adults with diabetes and complex conditions, as well as implementing evidence into practice and development of technologies to capture hardly reached populations with heterogeneity needs, which is integral to the data integration in health services and development of virtual tools. The second program focuses on the implementation of research evidence into practice using different approaches to increase the uptake of research by clinicians to improve patient outcomes. Professor Rasmussen is recognised as an expert in diabetes. She is an international leader in diabetes nursing research and education within professional leadership roles. She works in partnership with teams from Scandinavian Universities and leads numerous teams to improve health services for people with chronic and multimorbidity conditions.
Rasmussen has a strong track record in diabetes and chronic condition research and has attracted over $15.2 M in national and international research funding, mainly from national key diabetes organisations, Diabetes Australia Research Grants, Australian Diabetes Society, Australian Diabetes Educators Research Foundation, MRFF, NHMRC Partnership grants and one international NOVO-Nordisk grant.
