RESEARCH INTERESTS
Research interests in health services research concern the economic evaluation of interventions to promote population health. Lisa leads the maternal and child health stream of Deakin Health Economics and further details of current research and research outputs can be found on the Deakin Health Economics website.
Examples of current research include economic evaluations of interventions that involve:
* Nurse home visiting to improve maternal and child health and development in families facing adversity
* School-based oral language assessment and development systems to support language development in early primary school
* School-based mindfulness to improve child health and learning outcomes
* Web-based interventions for women and for men to prevent intimate partner violence
* Novel treatments to reduce childhood wheeze
Research interests in health economics concern the use of valuation techniques and stated preference methods. In particular, the use of multi-attribute utility instruments for child and maternal health and the use of contingent valuation and discrete choice experiments to estimate and investigate individual and community values for the outcomes of population health interventions.
Knowledge Areas
Health economics.
Economic evaluation.
Economics of child health.
Economics of maternity care and the health of women with young children.
